Until December 2017, Gerard has worked as Director of Institutional Relations of the FC Barcelona in New York, position he came to after serving as Chief of the Presidential cabinet and project director of the Social Area. Among his achievements for the FC Barcelona in the US, he master headed the social, charitable and commercial expansion of Barça’s brand and the establishment of commercial links for the discovery of new sources of income for the football club.

Between 2005 and 2011, Guiu held various positions in the Regional Catalan Administration, such as chief of staff for the Health secretary, director of the board of trustees for Lleida province’s economic promotion and chief of staff for the Lleida mayor’s office. He began his career at Ramon Llull University, where he was responsible for external relations and communications.

For 15 years, he has carried out academic activities at ESADE, where he continues work as a visiting professor for its law school. Gerard Guiu is a lawyer and journalist, Master in International Law by ESADE – Ramón Llull and Master in Journalism from the Univ. Of Barcelona and Columbia University. He has also conducted studies on International Relations at the Faculty of Law of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and at the University of Westminster in London.
